2018 Passenger Survey Report now available

Resident travel increased by 0.2% to 382,993. For both residents and visitors, all increases are accounted for by a rise in air travel of 5.2%. Total sea travel in 2018 fell by -6.0%. The number of non-business visitors staying in paid accommodation decreased very slightly by -0.7%. Business visitors to the Island have increased significantly by 10.1%. Accommodation Occupancy Survey

Our Association supports the Visit Isle of Man commissioned Occupancy Survey through Destination Research which aims to provide a statistical overview of the performance of the Island’s accommodation industry throughout the year. The team are building valuable data. However, the reports are only as good as the sample size so the Association would like to support the recent call by Visit Isle of Man for more accommodation providers to come forward to contribute to this valuable research, the results of which ensure that NO single contributor is identifiable. Introducing the new Visit Isle of Man Executive Agency

The inaugural board meetings of the new Finance Isle of Man, Digital Isle of Man, Business Isle of Man, and Visit Isle of Man Executive Agencies have now taken place, with 50 private and public sector leaders participating across the four boards. The development of the four Agencies follows the restructuring of the Department into a significantly smaller and more focused organisation. IOM Government approve purchase of Steam Packet Company

Tynwald has voted by a large majority to buy the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company. Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan moved the motion and members have debated the issue throughout the afternoon session. Ranald Caldwell appointed Chair of new Visit Isle of Man Agency

FIRST APPOINTMENTS MADE TO EXECUTIVE AGENCIES Chair role filled for Visit The Department for Enterprise has announced the appointment of two Chairs to lead its new executive agencies, Business Isle of Man and Visit Isle of Man. Stephen Bradley MBE will take on the role of non-executive Chair for Business Isle of Man, while Ranald Caldwell takes on the same role for Visit Isle of Man.
